What Are Base Nutrients?

A base nutrient, or a base nutrient system, can be described as the main source of plant food given to indoor or outdoor crops throughout the lifecycle of growth and bloom. To beginners, this topic of conversation can appear daunting, especially with the massive selection of nutrient brands and programs available in today’s market. However, the principles of plant nutrition, and the products which seek to promote plant health, are respectively similar in their content. This article, if anything, will simplify the seemingly complicated topic of plant nutrition, and shed light on the contents of “base nutrient” programs.

A Closer Look at Base Nutrients

So what are base nutrients? Like us, plants are only able to digest certain elements throughout their lifecycle; and so, a base nutrient could be described as any liquid or powdered plant food that contains most of, or all of the essential elements for plant health and stability. Although base nutrient systems vary in many ways, most notable in price, brand, and in the number of “parts”, an adequate base nutrient program will contain a well-rounded list of macro and micro-elements, be highly concentrated, and provide your plants with essential minerals throughout periods of growth and bloom. For an explanation of base nutrient parts, read our blog titled: Understanding the Parts of GreenPlanet Nutrients Base Fertilizer Programs.

Micronutrients and Macronutrients essential for plant growth
Hassani, 2018, Forestrypedia.com

Macronutrients

The most important elements to consider when choosing a base nutrient is Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K). Since plant biology has been understood at the molecular level, there has been a general consensus of the importance of these macronutrients; for instance, among other essential elements, Nitrogen is required in the largest quantities, and its availability and internal concentration affect the partitioning of biomass between roots and shoots (Razaq et al, 2015, p. 2). Phosphorus and Potassium, on the other hand, are equally important. From Graham Reinders in-depth book titled, Secrets Of High Yield Plant Growth, the author states the following on the overall significance of Phosphorus and Potassium:

Phosphorus is an energy carrier for hardy plants, and promotes early maturity for good flower, fruit and seed formation. Plants need Potassium to create the proteins that increase oil content which in turn enhance flavour and colour on flowers, fruits and vegetables.

(Reinders, 2001, p. 108)

Micronutrients

Although a solid N-P-K ratio is essential in the formation of a base nutrient program, other elements called “micronutrients”, have an important role to play in a well-rounded base nutrient system. These trace elements, although only available in small amounts, help facilitate a plants healthy metabolism; furthermore, if a plant is lacking a specific micronutrient, deficiencies such as slow or stunted growth, or in some cases, cell death may be observed (Boundless Biology, LibreText, p. 3).

Example of Micronutrients that are essential to plant growth
HaifaMicro, 2020, Haifa-Group.com

What to Look for in a Base Nutrient Program

If you can grasp a basic understanding of plant nutrition, choosing an appropriate base nutrient program is easy. But in short, when choosing a system of plant nutrition for your garden, make sure that the elements above are listed in well rounded and abundant quantities. Because a base nutrient is your plant’s main source of food, any system worth its weight should provide your garden with an adequate and wide range of elements. To see all available plant elements, refer to the guaranteed analysis.

All elements are documented in our Guaranteed Analysis, which can be found on the backs of our GreenPlanet bottles or located on the product tab on our shop page.

View GP3 Micro’s Guaranteed Analysis

The Contents of a Fertilizer

Before purchasing a base nutrient fertilizer, consider the contents of the bottle. For example, our OMRI listed organic base nutrient, Medi One, has a balanced N-P-K ratio of 4-3-3, as well as a host of other important micro-elements like copper, boron, manganese and zinc. If you’re curious about exact quantities of elements in your fertilizer of choice, ratios can be found in the “guaranteed analysis” section of any reputable fertilizer and are usually located on the back of the bottle, or in a peel-back label on the front of the container.

Preferences, Skills and Systems

A few other aspects to consider when purchasing a base nutrient program is the gardening system and your own preferences as a grower. If you have an interest in growing organically, for instance, this preference would narrow the choices of the available base nutrient systems on the market. Conversely, if you happen to operate a hydroponic garden, experts in the field would typically recommend the use of a highly soluble synthetic fertilizer, one which has multiple parts, and in some cases, varying ratios. Our Dual Fuel system, among other options,  is arguably the most popular choice of mineral-based fertilizers which fit the former description of high solubility.

Whatever your style of garden, chances are, GreenPlanet Nutrients has the perfect base nutrient program. To access the programs available at GreenPlanet Nutrients, contact a member of the GreenPlanet sales team, or your local garden supply store for product information and purchasing inquiries.

Understanding the Feed Program: Medi One

Dedicating your garden to a complete and well-rounded feeding program is a great way to ensure that your harvest is a cut above the rest. Not only do feeding programs contain the essentials for plant health and nutrition, but they also include supplements that can elevate your product to levels of unforgettable quality. Whether you’re new to gardening or have been growing for decades, experts would agree that committing to a program that promises to produce a heavy, quality-driven harvest, is a good place to start. In hopes of guiding gardeners to possibly the most quality-focused feeding program on the market, the following passages will dive deeper into the organic feeding program of Medi One

What is a Feed Program?

A feed program is a schedule of plant nutrition that can be mapped in terms of fertilizer dose, ratio, supplementation and use overtime. Usually containing several bottles, a complete feeding program should contain supplements including a base nutrient fertilizer, a vitamin supplement, a bloom booster, a source of carbohydrates and a trichome enhancer. By combining the inputs in a feeding program, prompted with other factors that produce a confident yield, growers can expect their garden to produce the most quality driven harvest possible. To browse a complete list of feed programs available at GreenPlanet Nutrients, click here

The 1 Part Medi One Feed Program

Medi One is perhaps the easiest to use organic base nutrient on the market. Accompanied with a cornucopia of supplements like Ocean Magic, Vitathrive, Massive and Rezin, the 1 Part Medi One Feed Program is sure to impress. Perfect for indoor or outdoor soil/soilless gardens, Medi One is the choice pick for growers who want to produce a clean harvest, free of any harsh or insoluble chemicals. Before committing your garden to the Medi One Feed Program, consult a description of each supplement included in the schedule below.

Medi One: Base Nutrient

Medi One is an OMRI-listed, one-part, organic base nutrient. Composed from multiple organic sources, including hydrolyzed, slow-steamed fish ingredients and naturally sourced potassium sulphate, Medi One boasts an impressive yet balanced N-P-K ratio of 4-3-3; and, because of the slow steaming of inert ingredients during the manufacturing process, Medi One is an overflowing reservoir of essential micronutrients like copper, boron, manganese and zinc. Additionally, unlike other organic fertilizers, which are usually manufactured and sold in powdered or soluble form, Medi One’s liquid form offers plants instant nutrient availability.

Ocean Magic: Additive Nutrient

Ocean Magic is a vegetative and flowering additive derived from cold-pressed sea kelp that benefits your plants. The wealth of ingredients found in Ocean Magic supports several functional properties, such as rooting and reducing environmental and plant stress. Used as either a root-soak or foliar spray, Ocean Magic contains special plant hormones, including auxins, cytokinins and gibberellins, which have been linked to promoting vigorous growth, branching, and increased resistance to stress in plants (Stirk & Staden, 2014, p. 127).

Massive Bloom Formulation: Additive Nutrient

Massive Bloom Formulation is our premier flowering additive formulated with all of the necessary macro and microelements to increase flower size. It also provides several additional beneficial properties, such as L-amino acids and a source of carbohydrates. Massive is the perfect blooming supplement to pair with Medi One’s living, organic qualities

Rezin: Additive Nutrient

Rezin is our flowering additive formulated to enhance the natural processes within flowering plants that produce flavour and aroma. With no PPM, Rezin can be used with any base nutrient program until harvest to produce large, sugar-coated flowers. Now known for enhancing the “entourage effect” (Russo, 2019, para. 17), Rezin is one proprietary supplement that is a must-have for any quality-driven garden.

Entourage Effect: The theory that the synergistic effect of THC, flavonoids, cannabinoids and terpenes all contribute to the overall “experience” of cannabis consumption.

Liquid Weight: Additive Nutrient

Liquid Weight is a supplement blend of simple carbohydrates that support beneficial microbial life in the root zone. This leads to an increase in the absorption of essential nutrients that help develop impressive aromatic flowers and fruits. Plants spend a fantastic amount of energy-releasing sugars like cellulose into the root zone; so, by supplementing your plant’s expenditures with additional carbs, you can be sure the beneficial microbes in your soil will be plentifully fed, which in turn will support the cultivation and growth of your living medium.  Want to know more about carbohydrate supplements? Read our blog: The Power of Carbohydrates in the Garden.

Using the Feed Program

Like a recipe, the Medi One Feed Program delivers the best results when the formula is followed. As explained above, a feeding program is a schedule of plant nutrition that can be mapped in terms of fertilizer dosage, ratio, supplementation and use over time. Throughout the weeks of vegetative and flowering growth, the Medi One Feed Program will guide the grower through different stages of a plant’s life and offer general feeding ratios, doses and helpful supplementation tips over time. All the measurements of plant food on our feeding programs are described in millilitres of fertilizers per litre of water.

Features and Considerations

At a glance, you’ll notice a few distinguishing features about the Medi One Feeding Program: first, only certain products and supplements are recommended for use in specific stages of plant growth. For example, the feed chart is split into two stages: vegetative and flowering growth. In these different stages, only certain supplements are recommended for use; for instance, you’ll notice that products that increase flower size, like Massive Bloom Formulation, are only introduced in the second week of flower, once plants have established pistils and bud sites.

Our feed charts are split into two stages: vegetative and flowering.

Another aspect of the feeding chart to examine is the rise and gradual plateau of the recommended Parts Per Million (PPM) of your nutrient solution. PPM is a unit of measurement which describes the concentration of a solution. In this case, since we are examining fertilizer, PPM can be seen as a measurement that determines the strength and concentration of dissolved elements within a nutrient solution. While following the Medi One Feed Program, you’ll notice that the PPM of your nutrient solution will gradually increase as you move into the flowering stage, finally plateauing in weeks 2 – 6, followed by a gradual decrease in strength as you move towards the final weeks of the flushing period. These general measurements are based on the assumption that as time progresses, your plants will become larger and will, therefore, be able to digest a more concentrated nutrient solution.

As plants go from the vegetative stage to the flowering stage of growth, their nutrient requirements increase.

There’s no better time than now to start your garden off right with the help of the Medi One nutrient schedule. Want to learn more about Medi One? Understanding the Parts of GreenPlanet Nutrients Base Fertilizer Programs

Whether you garden in soil or hydroponics, choosing a plant food that fits your preferred method of growing can be as important as other factors that promote the maximum yield of a garden. For all of us looking for simpler and more effective tools in the garden, GreenPlanet Nutrients has introduced multiple base nutrient programs to fit any system and all levels of growing experience. From the organically derived Medi One to the classic and clean GP3, GreenPlanet Nutrients has all the bases covered when it comes to hassle-free gardening.

What is The Part System?

The “parts” of a GreenPlanet Nutrient system can be described as a set of nutrient enrichment programs that utilize different steps, quantities and qualities in the growing process. The different parts of a nutrient program can typically be broken down into the number of bottles growers would use in a base nutrient system. GreenPlanet Nutrients, for instance, has four available base nutrient programs, each system consisting of varying qualities and mixing procedures.

In simple terms, a part references the number of bottles that a particular base nutrient uses within a feed program. E.g 3 Part GP3 = 3 Base Nutrient Bottles

All of the parts of a base nutrient program are made up of similar elements, the only difference between them is the method of mixing and ratios during irrigation. For example, GreenPlanet Nutrient one part base nutrient program, Medi One, relies only on a single bottle to supply your garden with an array of macro and micronutrients throughout the vegetative and flowering cycles. While a more advanced formula, like GP3, uses three bottles to supply plants with the necessary essentials to promote health and steady growth.

1 Part Medi One – 2 Part Dual Fuel – 3 Part GP3 – 4 Part Hydro Fuel

Choosing the Right Feeding Program

Although GreenPlanet gives growers a variety of choices when it comes to fertilizer, each nutrient system provides consistent and reliable results at harvest time. So, there is no clear answer for gardeners when it comes to questions about the base nutrient program that will provide the best results. However, knowing that GreenPlanet Nutrients compiles all their nutrient programs with a complete and cohesive list of available elements, should provide consumers with peace of mind during the moments leading up to choosing a fertilizer for the garden. In short, there is no definite answer when it comes to choosing a fertilizer for the garden, as a more complicated feeding program will not necessarily provide a heavier or more quality-driven harvest.

Choosing the right feed program doesn’t have to be rocket science and we show you why.

If there is anything at all to consider when choosing plant food, it’s your own preference as a gardener. For example, if you prefer a more laid back, easy-going approach, choose the system with the least amount of base nutrient bottles. If you happen to be interested in the scientific aspects of gardening, a more complicated feeding program with multiple bottles may be the right fit for you. Whatever kind of gardener you may be, and no matter your experience level, GreenPlanet Nutrients has the perfect feeding program to suit your needs.

GreenPlanet Nutrients Feeding Programs

Here are the part feed programs available to you.

Additional Feed Program

With every feed program, we also offer a starter kit variation that comprises of 500ml bottles within that particular Feed Program.

One Part Nutrient System: Medi One

Medi One is GreenPlanet Nutrients certified organic one part that can be used as a foundation for plant growth and general health throughout a plant’s life cycle. Formulated from multiple organic sources, including hydrolyzed, slow-steamed fish ingredients, sea kelp, and naturally sourced potassium sulphate, Medi One boasts an impressively balanced NPK ratio of 4-3-3-and is quite possibly the easiest-to-use liquid organic nutrient on the market.

Two Part Nutrient System: Dual Fuel

GreenPlanet Nutrients Dual Fuel is perhaps the simplest and most concentrated base nutrient formula available to growers today. The Dual Fuel nutrient system is made of two parts, used in equal ratios, and can be added, among other additives, to enrich plants in soil, coco, and hydroponic systems throughout the plant’s life. Dual Fuel is extremely cost-effective and is arguably the best choice for beginners and large-scale cultivators alike.

The Autopot Dual Fuel Feed Program has been tailored to work seamlessly with the AutoPot Watering Systems.

Three Part Nutrient System: GP3

For all of us who prefer traditions in life, GreenPlanet Nutrients offers growers the classically tested three-part program. Consisting of three bottles, GreenPlanet Nutrients GP3 Micro, GP3 Grow, and GP3 Bloom make up the industry’s standard nutrient system for successful growing. Made for the serious gardener, use GP3 in varying doses and ratios throughout the plant’s life for the best results.

The Autopot GP3 Feed Program has been tailored to work seamlessly with the AutoPot Watering Systems.

Four Part Nutrient System: Hydro Fuel

Combining the relaxed stability of the Dual Fuel program with all the clean and conscious meticulousness of GP3, GreenPlanet Nutrients Hydro Fuel blends the best of both worlds. Using Hydro Fuel Grow and Hydro Fuel Bloom in equal parts throughout the plant’s life cycle helps growers spend less time looking at the feeding chart and more time with their plants. But don’t let the simplicity of this system fool you; Hydro Fuel’s four-part system is as tested and traditional as the rest of GreenPlanet’s nutrient programs and can ultimately provide the results you expect from quality-driven plant nutrition.

What an OMRI Listed Product Can Do For Your Garden

Organic gardening is the process of enriching plants with naturally occurring materials, which at harvest time, arguably produce the cleanest and most unadulterated food and flower products available on the market. The practice of organic gardening, however, is not entirely about the production of clean and tasty crops – the roots of the trade foremost stem from philosophies that value the environment. Unlike the processes of commercial farming, where growers benefit from a variety of inorganic ingredients, like chemical fertilizers and pesticides, organic growing utilizes natural properties and elements to supplement plant health and stability. By facilitating plant growth through naturally occurring entities, the organic community can encourage tenets such as soil biodiversity and a decrease in waste and pollution, which, if cared for, can ultimately promote and maintain centres of flora and fauna diversification overtime.

To maintain standards in the field of organic agriculture, organizations such as the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI), help manage the industry of inert fertilizer production, ensuring the inputs to your garden are sustainable, ethically sourced, and otherwise meet the certification standards of OMRI listed products.

What is OMRI?

OMRI is a non-governmental organization that manages the standards of inputs that go into producing certified organic gardening products. In addition, OMRI verifies the sources and procedures of production which go into the manufacturing process of fertilizers, pesticides and fungicides, ensuring that the compounds which go into these products meet organic standards.

In order for a product to become an OMRI certified organic, the manufacturer must provide OMRI with data like an ingredients list, the manufacturing process, the formula of production and other necessary information to verify the product’s efficacy against organic standards. You can find OMRI certified products in all places of the industry, from soils and mediums to liquid and soluble fertilizers. To check for yourself if a fertilizer is ‘certified’ organic, consult OMRI’s most recent product list.

What an OMRI Listed Product Can Do For Your Garden

Although there are many benefits of using an organic method of gardening, there are some more specific advantages growers can expect when using an OMRI listed product in the garden.

A Consistent Product

As a consumer, purchasing a product with an OMRI stamp is one of the safest bets you can make in the production of an organic garden. Because of the measures taken by OMRI in the certification process, consumers can expect a product that will produce clean food and flower crops consistently.

Quality Driven Ingredients

Organic gardening is all about quality. By picking an OMRI certified fertilizer over chemical, or uncertified supplements, you can ensure your garden will be cut above the rest at harvest time. Part of the process of OMRI certification is the payment of quality assurance testing by fertilizer manufacturers against organic standards; manufacturers pay the fee for OMRI testing whether or not their product gets a stamp of certification. As a result, the transparency OMRI provides, along with other foundations of material testing, evidently leads to the production of quality-driven organic products in the marketplace.

Certified Organic Crop Production

Although OMRI tests specific organic inputs against standards in the production of crops, it does not certify food or flower products as organic in nature. To become a certified organic producer of crops, there are many other steps that gardeners must navigate. As a result, other institutions which act as food/fibre certifiers, look at many factors in the process of farm certification, for instance, where, how, and with what techniques crops are produced. However, if your potentially organic farm was using an OMRI label fertilizer in the production process, the decision to certify your garden as ‘organic’ would become much easier for certifiers.

Ready To Grow With An OMRI Listed Fertilizer?

Looking for a reliable OMRI listed product? Try our award-winning base nutrient Medi One. Medi One is the only certified organic product on the market today that can deliver the quantity and quality you expect from an award-winning nutrient. The Power of Carbohydrates in the Garden

If you’ve been in the industry long, you’ve probably had your share of interesting conversations centred around ways to increase the output of your garden. To be fair, many of these conversations are brought forth by people, who, given their experience in the trade, can offer advice with a certain amount of validity. There are others, however, who offer not-so convincing ideas on the subject of yield increase.

One of the most commonly heard ideas about increasing the overall yield of a garden is the act of enriching your medium with a carbohydrate, or sugary substance. Being that simple sugars are found in abundant quantities throughout our daily life, for example, in soda, the not-so convincing “experts” recommend enriching your garden with sugary, carbonated drinks like cola, orange or grape soda. It’s argued that not only does the high sugar content boost your plant’s metabolism, but the flavour profile extracted from the soda can leach into the end product of your flower. This claim, however, has not been evidenced.

So, while it may be appropriate to utilize the sugars found in some household products, like blackstrap molasses, using soda in your scheduled feeding program is not recommended. These drinks, most notably, varieties of cola, are highly carbonated and are known for their ability to neutralize bacteria. Being that the whole point of introducing a source of carbs to your feeding program is to cultivate and sustain living microorganisms, using soda as a source of sugar seems counterproductive to the initial premise of increasing the maximum yield of a garden.

Carbs give your plants energy without making them work for it.

– The Garden Sage, Author of “The Grower’s Handbook

With this in mind, there are other efficient and economical sources of carbohydrates that are specifically formulated for use in the production of food and flowers. By adding a quality source of sugars to your regular fertilizing program, gardeners can typically expect the increased activity of living bacteria and fungi, which can ultimately lead to the essential uptake of nutrients, and the faster movement of fluid and fertilizer throughout the plant system. The passages below will dive deeper into the subject of the power of carbs in the root-zone.

Key Benefits of Carbohydrates

Unlike the mention of soda before, which contains simple processed sugars (among other possibly harmful additives), a clean, quality-focused carbohydrate supplement like our Liquid Weight or Karbo Boost, contains an array of simple sugars like dextrose, sucrose and fructose. Following this, there are essentially two improvements you can expect from adding a rich source of carbohydrates into your scheduled feeding program: an increase in microbe activity and a higher rate of nutrient and fluid uptake.

Promote an active root zone for your plants with beneficial bacteria and carbohydrates as a food source.

Increased Microbe Activity

To encourage the rapid growth of healthy bacteria, fungi and protozoa in your root zone, pairing your regular feeding program with a sugary carbohydrate supplement will help to speed up the growth rate of beneficial microbes. Plants spend an amazing amount of energy-releasing complex sugars like cellulose into the root-zone; so, by supplementing your plant’s expenditures with additional carbs, you can be sure the beneficial microbes in your soil will be plentifully fed, which in turn will support the cultivation and growth of your living medium. Furthermore, this action of supplementing carbohydrates will allow your plant to focus its energy on producing the rest of its anatomy throughout its lifecycle.

Increased Nutrient and Fluid Uptake

This expected result pairs hand in hand with the formerly discussed increase in microbe activity. Because of the increase and growth of living organisms in the root-zone, available elements like nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, along with a host of other micronutrients, are broken down at an accelerated pace. This point also indicates an increase in the uptake of fluids due to the plant’s active metabolism, which, if maintained, can produce a faster-growing, healthier plant overall

Liquid Carbohydrate Additive: Liquid Weight

Liquid Weight is a liquid additive nutrient used in the flowering stage of the plant cycle. It provides a blend of simple carbohydrates to support the beneficial microbial life in the root zone. Introducing carbohydrates via the root zone will benefit microbes that expand the root zone’s ability to absorb nutrients and other vital fluids.

Front Label Icons
Back Label Icons

Beneficial microbes do this by bonding with the plant’s roots to break down larger elements into simple chemical components that are easier for the plant to uptake and absorb. This translates to increased yields in both mass and quality. Liquid Weight is a must use additive in all our liquid nutrient programs.

Dry Carbohydrate Additive: Karbo Boost

Karbo Boost is a dry additive nutrient used in the flowering stage of the plant cycle. This formula uses naturally occurring carbohydrates to ensure your plants are getting an added clean source of energy to support heavy fruiting. An added source of carbohydrates is important during the flowering stage to ensure microbes can help your plants uptake the nutrients they need to produce a healthy and aromatic crop.

Front Label Icons
Back Label Icons

These microorganisms can help break down larger elements into simple chemical components that are easier for your plant to uptake and absorb. Healthy microbial life in the rhizosphere not only helps mobilize nutrients but also benefits water and oxygen absorption in the root zone for faster and stronger growth. Add Karbo Boost alongside your favourite nutrient program.

Beneficial Bacteria Additive: Root Builder

Root Builder is a liquid additive nutrient used in the vegetative and flowering stage of the plant cycle. Our formula introduces two key forms of beneficial bacteria to your grow medium: Bacillus licheniformis and Bacillus subtilis. Bacillus licheniformis will help break down elements so your plant can use its energy on other important plant functions, such as producing big, beautiful flowers.

Front Label Icons
Back Label Icons

Bacillus subtilis is an extremely strong beneficial bacteria that focuses on boosting natural defences. It will also produce molecules called iturins that will target harmful microorganisms in the rhizosphere and eliminate them. Together, these organisms perform as a microbial soil amendment, which improves the conversion of organic and inorganic fertilizers into plant-available forms for more efficient nutrient uptake.

Ready for the Carbohydrate Advantage?

Consider adding any of the supplements above to your grow for a high-quality source of carbohydrates. Compared to adding a sugary carbonated alternative, these formulas ensure any microbes receive a full range of sugars, letting your plants focus on developing a frosty final crop.

Maximize Your Yields With GreenPlanet’s Massive

GreenPlanet’s Massive encompasses everything about a quality-focused bloom formulation. Unlike other blooming additives, which typically contain nothing more than soluble mineral salts, Massive is specially blended with an array of elements like L-form amino acids, natural sugars, and a balance of micro and macronutrients specifically selected to assist budding plants with the production of large, healthy flowers.

Comprehensive Results

With scheduled use of Massive in the garden, growers can expect an increase in flower size, aromatics, essential oils, chlorophyll content, photosynthesis, CO2 utilization, proper NPK ratios, cell expansion and content, cell wall thickness, floral components, and resistance to stressors. Furthermore, the components in Massive work aggressively to promote, as well as transport vital fluids and cell building materials to the flower sites. This creates truly impressive stacked flower clusters, full of aromatic essential oils.

Dosage and Directions

Massive is recommended for use throughout the entirety of a plant’s blooming cycle prior to the last two weeks of harvest. At its required dose, Massive is an aggressive product, on average clocking in with a mixing rate of 20mL per gallon, or, 5mL per litre. At this rate, Massive can raise the PPM of a nutrient solution by approximately 300-400 points; so, be sure to adequately adjust the mixing rate of your additional supplements, base nutrients, and additives, to compensate for the boost in salt-content provided by Massive.

Go Beyond the Feed Program with GreenPlanet’s Root Builder, Plant Guard and PK Spike

Alongside GreenPlanet’s specially formulated feeding programs, there are many additives and supplements that are available to growers which have the potential to elevate your product to the next level. Whether you’re interested in rapidly expanding your plant’s root-zone, strengthening stems, branches and stalks, or, simply providing a highly soluble concentration of phosphorus and potassium throughout the flowering stage – GreenPlanet Nutrients has you covered. Here’s a look at three products from GreenPlanet that takes you and your garden beyond the feed program!

Root Builder

GreenPlanet’s Root Builder is densely packed with two strains of extremely active beneficial bacteria: Bacillus Licheniformis and Bacillus Subtilis. Both of these microorganisms have different roles in the root-zone. For example, Bacillus Licheniformis is utilized quickly to break down soluble minerals and convert them to energy for the plant. While strains of Bacillus Subtilis mainly support a plant’s immune system by producing molecules called iturins, which target and eliminate sources of harmful bacteria. Without healthy probiotic supplements like Root Builder, stressful environmental conditions, inconsistent irrigation or a deficient feeding program, may produce a diseased root-zone incapable of supporting steady growth. To save on the stress of a stunted plant, invest in your root-zone today with GreenPlanet’s Root Builder!

Plant Guard

Plant Guard is GreenPlanet’s source of liquid Potassium Silicate, which supports plant growth and durability in all stages of development. Potassium Silicate is a valuable element that plants utilize at the cellular level to build-up defences against harmful pathogens, stress and extreme weather conditions. This resistance to stressors happens when the cell-walls of the plant harden due to the uptake of Silicate in the root-zone. The action of hardening typically results in the production of thicker stalks, branches and broader leaves in the vegetative state, and the ability to support larger, heavier flowers in the budding stage.

PK Spike

PK Spike is derived from several highly soluble sources of Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K) and formulated to deliver high amounts of PK to flowering plants. This product is designed to encourage budding, and help facilitate the bulking and ripening of flowering plants. To hasten the pace at which your indoor plants produce buds, add PK Spike to your base nutrient solution the first two weeks of flower, and then again at the last two weeks before flush to increase the density, fullness and development of your flowers.

Use Clean Nutrient Formulas In Your AutoPot Watering System With Our 3 Part AutoPot GP3 Feed Program

Our initial launch of the GP3 Feed Program

Justin Cooper, Co-Founder of GreenPlanet Nutrients talking about GP3

Simple Grow Systems Need a Simple Nutrient Program

AutoPot Watering Systems offer a simple to use automatic watering systems that can be used either as a hydroponic system or as a traditional soil irrigation system. It makes indoor and greenhouse growing easy for any grower. When working with AutoPot to learn how our plant nutrients could benefit their growers in the best way possible, we needed to understand what AutoPot users wanted from their feed program. We knew that the grow systems required extremely clean formulas with high-quality ingredients as the source of plant nutrition. We also understood that AutoPot growers wanted nutrient programs that simplified their lives, while still delivering an impressive crop.

These demands led us to develop two brand new nutrient programs specifically for AutoPot cultivators: The 2 Part Autopot Dual Fuel Feed Program and the 3 Part AutoPot GP3 Feed Program. GreenPlanet Nutrients focuses on pure nutrient formulas with readily available ingredients, making them an essential source of nutrients for any plants.

There were demands for us to make a 3 part for years, and not only making it, but making it better than what was on the market. GP3 has pure ingredients, better ratios, a more complete formula, and that’s going to give growers better results and better value. Each formula is 100% water soluble and readily available, making it easy for your plant to uptake.

Justin Cooper, Co-Founder of GreenPlanet Nutrients

A Proven Formula Tested By Growers

With proven results since its initial launch, it was no brainer to create an AutoPot Feed Program based on our 3 part base nutrient, GP3. Our Grow, Micro, and Bloom formulas have been tested and approved by veteran craft growers as their go-to 3 part nutrient in any grow medium. As mentioned, nutrients used in an AutoPot need to have a clean formula to avoid clogging the lines and AquaValves in the system. It is nothing but a headache having to isolate AutoPot Grow Modules in order to perform emergency system maintenance when problems arise because of nutrients. All 3 formulas of GP3 are 100% water-soluble, ensuring you can add it to your AutoPot Reservoir without having to worry about any build-up or clogged lines. The only thing you should worry about after feeding your plants is what’s for dinner!

With our formulas ensuring nutrients are available to the plants when they are ready to uptake them, the intuitive design of the AutoPot Watering System can function seamlessly. The AquaValve found in each module of the grow system will deliver the nutrient solution to the plant when it needs it, and with GP3, it is getting a full array of macro and micronutrients it needs at all stages of growth.

Nutrition Matters For Your Plants

GP3 Grow provides your plants with the optimal nutrients they require in the vegetative stage of growth. This stage is when your plants develop leafy green foliage and a strong root system that will be able to support flowering sites during the bloom stage. GP3 Micro contains an extensive range of ethically sourced, guaranteed micronutrients to ensure your plants are getting the highest quality fertilizer possible. These include necessary elements such as iron (Fe), boron (B) and calcium (Ca), all of which benefit the plant throughout its entire life cycle. Finally, GP3 Bloom delivers a healthy dose of phosphorous and potassium, which plants uptake in large amounts during the flowering stage of growth to product beautiful and healthy buds. All 3 formulas work together in every week of plant growth to deliver the fundamental nutrients your garden needs to thrive.

Get Growing With Our New 3 Part AutoPot Starter Kit

We wanted to make using the GP3 AutoPot Feed Program in an AutoPot Watering System as easy as possible, so we made a brand new nutrient Starter Kit to get growers started with the right fertilizers. The New 3 Part AutoPot Starter Kit comes with all the components of GP3: GP3 Grow, GP3 Bloom, and GP3 Micro. They supply your grow with the foundation of NPK and more.

You’ll also find a collection of additive and supplement nutrients in the Kit for added benefits. Our Vitathrive Propagation Solution is a comprehensive additive blend of vitamins and minerals formulated for the vegetative stage of plant growth. It is designed to reinforce plant health and support essential functions. Rezin is our aroma and flavour enhancer that greatly increases the essential oil and resin production of flowering plants. It will push size, aromas, and flavours to bring out the best qualities of your plants for a high-quality crop.

The last product is our highly effective bloom booster, PK Spike. Derived from multiple, highly soluble sources of phosphorous and potassium, PK Spike is designed to encourage budding, help facilitate bulking, and ripening of flowering plants. With large amounts of PK delivered to your plants, you’ll see earlier and more uniform crop maturity, improved flower quality, and tighter buds for a heavy harvest. PK Spike will not leave any biofilm or residue than can be problematic in an AutoPot System. It is an incredibly clean flowering additive that will help your plants thrive in an AutoPot.

It can be a struggle to find the right fertilizers to use in a grow system, especially with so many choices out there. With the GreenPlanet 3 Part AutoPot GP3 Feed Program and 3 Part AutoPot Starter Kit, we’ve ended the search and made the choice an easy one. AutoPot growers now have a clean, simple, and high-quality source of nutrients for their plants.

Increase the weight of your harvest with Dense

Avoid loose and airy buds when using Dense in your garden

Have you ever had big, beautiful flowers after harvest, but when it came time to weight them, it wasn’t what you were expecting from your yields? You were ready for your best harvest to date with big buds, but they are not as hard and dense as you wanted them to be.

In your garden, there can be environmental factors that result in airy flowers. If the temperature around the top of your grow’s canopy is too hot, your flowers are going to loosen up resulting in an airy final product. Growers will also find that excessive levels of CO2 and hormone application can cause your yield to miss the mark on the final weight they are after.

But if you have mastered your garden environment, you are growing a healthy strain, and you have the rest of your nutrient program dialled in, you are ready to add a nutrient supplement like Dense. This is a 0-0-62 powder nutrient, delivering solely potassium (K) to your plant in late flower. When you mix Dense according to the directions, without adding any other nutrients, you can end up with a feeding solution as high as 1400 PPM of straight potassium (K). Even after one application, you will see an increase in the weight of your buds.

In 20 years of doing this, I have never seen 1400 PPM of K applied to a plant. Now that we’ve been doing it, we’re seeing great results. My clients come to me and they say, ‘That works.’

David Robinson, The Garden Sage, Author of the Grower’s Handbook

What is Dense?

Dense is our highly-concentrated potassium supplement used in the last weeks of flower. This dry fertilizer is a specially formulated blend of potassium that is used separately from your regular feeding program. Using Dense in your grow will maximize weight and bulk flowers during the bloom stage for a final crop full of dense buds.

A dry powdered nutrient used throughout the flowering stages
Can be used in these growing techniques

The power of potassium (K)

Dense is a one of a kind dry fertilizer that delivers a large dose of potassium (K) during heavy fruiting and flowering. This is completely unique from any other GreenPlanet Nutrients product we offer. Plants that are lacking in potassium during the later stages of bloom run the risk of producing airy and loose flowers. By introducing a 0-0-62 straight potassium formula to your plants, Dense ensures you get the maximum weight out of your flowers when it comes time to harvest your crop.

The results of Dense comes from the key role potassium plays in the development of flowering plants. Potassium is responsible for sugar production and the plant’s ability to store the energy it needs for healthy and vigorous flower development. It will also increase the strength of the plant at a cellular level to promote the production of sturdy stems that support large flower sites. These benefits of potassium make Dense a must use for cultivators looking to get the most out of their buds.

How do I use Dense in my grow?

Depending on your grow medium and grow system, there are 2 different ways to apply Dense:

Soil/Soilless/Coco Application: Use 1-2 grams per 1 litre (4-8 grams per 1 gallon) of water once a week. Use only in the last 3 weeks of flower, allowing at least one week for flush. Do not mix Dense with any other nutrients, mix with water only.

Hydroponic Application: Flush your nutrient reservoir of the existing nutrient solution. Add 1-2 grams per 1 litre (4-8 grams per 1 gallon) of water. Circulate in your system for up to 48 hours. Flush and then replace it with fresh nutrient solution, then repeat the following week. Use only in the last 3 weeks of flower, allowing at least one week for flush. Do not mix Dense with any other nutrients, mix with water only.

If you are a grower with your environment dialed in, plants are in good health, and looking for a simple product that guarantees your plants will produce buds with maximum weight, Dense is the supplement you have been looking for.

2 Part Autopot Dual Fuel Feed Program is formulated to deliver amazing results in AutoPot Watering Systems.

Increase your AutoPot Watering System Yield Output with our Plant Fertilizers

For us at GreenPlanet Nutrients, we’ve always had a focus on innovation, simplifying gardening for growers, and pursuing partnerships with others who share these values with us. That is why we have worked with the AutoPot Team on a brand new Dual Fuel Nutrient Feed Program and Nutrient Starter Kit designed specifically for their watering systems. For new and experienced cultivators alike, dealing with mixing, pH balancing and complicated feeding schedules can often be a hassle; and in some cases, misuse of liquid nutrients can lead to the detriment of a garden in both yield and quality of the product. Our hyper-concentrated and pH-balanced Dual Fuel formula has been easing the workload in gardens for years since its release in 2016, making it the perfect match for growers already enjoying the benefits of AutoPot’s simple gravity-fed systems. With a watering system that can produce indoor and greenhouse crops with ease, there is now a GreenPlanet Nutrients Feed Program to match.

”I would strongly recommend the GreenPlanet Dual Fuel with any of the AutoPot range because it’s very, very clean. Ben at the farm, where we hold the AutoPot Summer Social, used it last year as well and sang its praises so I thought I’d give it a try as well…really nice nutrient, recommend it.”

– Jason Ralph-Smith, Managing Director at AutoPot Global

Dual Fuel for Beginners

Dealing with liquid fertilizer for the first time is a challenge, especially when the stack of nutrients involves complicated ratios and constant pH balancing. From experience, we get how frustrating and time consuming it can be for growers. With that in mind, we designed our innovative 2 Part system to change the game forever. Dual Fuel, plain and simple, is easy to use. Whether or not you are a beginner or an expert, all you need for a successful garden is two bottles: Dual Fuel 1 & 2. Dual Fuel was designed to balance perfectly in the water at a range of 6.0 – 6.2. Although checking the pH of your nutrient solution is a good habit, it is in no way required to ensure the efficacy of your daily feeding schedule. With this attribute, our Dual Fuel feed program can save you time in your daily gardening routine and also keep your plants happy and ensure optimum nutrient uptake with an effortlessly ideal pH.

Even more attractive to beginners is the unmatched utility of the Dual Fuel feed program. In a sense, it’s foolproof.  Our Dual Fuel feed program was formulated to be used in a 1:1 ratio with each part. So, no matter how much nutrient needs to be mixed, the ratio of Dual Fuel 1 to 2 will remain constant. This again saves the gardener time and headache, as feeding schedules are no longer required if you are only using Dual Fuel 1 & 2.

Here’s a tip: If you’re at all worried you’ve been using Dual Fuel incorrectly, check to see if both bottles have the same amount of nutrient left. If both bottles have equal amounts, you’re using the product correctly. In the case you’re over or under a few drops, don’t worry, this will not harm your plants. That’s the thing about Dual Fuel: don’t overthink – just grow!

GP Team

Dual Fuel for Experts

If you’ve been gardening through the years, its safe to say you tried your fair share of liquid nutrient programs, and, that you’ve upgraded beyond a few plants to cultivate. Well, its time to stop searching for the perfect nutrient stack and settle on the second to none 2 Part program. Just as Dual Fuel has its advantages for beginners to the industry, these attributes are multiplied when its aggressive formula is applied to large scale operations, saving its cultivators in training, labour, and the upfront costs of liquid fertilizer.

If you own or manage a medium to large size garden, you’re not doing it alone; there are many hands involved in producing a quality-driven, high yielding product. The overseer of a garden is responsible for many things, one of which is instructing the staff on the process of mixing and balancing liquid nutrients and water. This can often be a taxing process, filled with trial and error, multiple learning curves, upsetting crops and poor delivery on a high-quality product. However, with the Dual Fuel program in the mix, these worries are thrown to the wayside, as the pH stability and seamless mixing patterns of this product evidently attempt to flatten the learning curve of any potential master grower. In turn, these attributes will arguably speed up production time, and lead to a cleaner, happier garden.

Furthermore, Dual Fuel 1 & 2 are hyper-concentrated, with the average application (depending on plant age, size and stage) coming in at 1.0 – 2.0 ml per litre, and with its marginally low upfront cost, this program is a dream for large scale operators looking to save on liquid nutrient. Unlike indoor gardening hardware, like lighting equipment, ventilation gear and other environmental controls, fertilizer is something that is always being purchased. Dual Fuel is a program that attempts to shorten the periods between these costly trips to your local garden supply store, as its hyper-concentration and easy mixing habits lead to less waste and more value per litre than any competitor on the market.

When growing in a gardening system designed specially to simplify the lives of cultivators, it only makes sense to use the easiest and most cost-effect nutrient program on the market as your source of plant nutrition. With our 2 Part AutoPot Dual Fuel Feed Program and 2 Part AutoPot Dual Fuel Starter Kit, growing with an AutoPot Watering System just got that much easier.

Engrais Sec

Dry Fertilizer Icon

Dry Fertilizer

This icon symbolizes dry fertilizer.

If you’re a “leave it and forget it” type of person, dry fertilizers are for you. Dry plant fertilizers consist of small beads or pellets that release nutrients into the soil. They also allow you to feed less often apart from watering.

An image of dry fertilizer being applied to the topsoil. Dry Fertilizers are excellent for potted plants and garden beds, as well as large-scale outdoor grow operations such as farms.
Dry fertilizers are excellent for potted plants and garden beds, as well as
large-scale outdoor grow operations such as farms.

Outdoors, potted plants, flower beds, and large-scale outdoor farms are ideal growing situations for using dry fertilizer. GreenPlant Nutrients’ Dry powder fertilizers and granular fertilizers come in base nutrients such as BackCountry Blend, and additive nutrients such as Horti hortirawK.

It is important to note that dry plant nutrients can cause nutrient toxicity and burning if used too often. In some cases, it is better to use less fertilizer, as warm and wet climates will accelerate nutrient release into the soil. Follow the recommended feed program and adjust your nutes to your climate to avoid this undesirable situation!

Liquid Fertilizer or Liquid Product Icon

Liquid Fertilizer

This icon symbolizes liquid fertilizer.

If you’re all about indoor growing and hydroponics, liquid fertilizers are probably your go-to type of plant nutrient.

Liquid fertilizers have the most variety out of all our products, and are useful in all styles of gardening. GreenPlant Nutrients’ liquid fertilizers come in base nutrients such as GP3 and additive nutrients such as Massive Bloom Formulation.

Under no circumstances should you pour liquid nutrients directly from the bottle into your garden! Liquid nutrients are highly concentrated. Always mix your solution first.

Please check our feed programs to see how you can use our vast array of liquid plant nutrients.

Nutrient Type

Like all living organisms, plants have life cycles. Their life cycles happen in three stages: seedling (or cutting), vegetative, flowering, and in some cases fruiting.

A plant’s stages of growth have different requirements. For instance, indoor gardens need different lighting and nutrients for grow and bloom cycles. GreenPlanet Nutrients formulates fertilizers tailored to two specific growth stages: vegetative and flowering.

Growth Stage

You may be wondering how to use our products, or what kind of feed program is suitable for each product. Thankfully, we have a means of indicating that.

On the back side of our labels, we have icons that show how these products can be used.
